Previous INF/EMF Fellow Kamiar Alaei and his Brother Arash Freed After Years in Prison
Drs. Kamiar and Arash Alaei were imprisoned in Iran for their work with HIV patients in 2008. After 2 years Kamiar was freed and then in August of this year Arash was freed as well, in part thanks to a campaign by Physicians for Human Rights. Dr. Kamiar Alaei was the recipient of an INF/EMF long term fellowship in 2005 to train at the Harvard School of Public Health.
INF Fellow Wins Research Award
Frederick Grant, INF/EMF Long-term doctoral fellow at Emory University has won the American Society for Nutrition (ASN) /Nutritional Sciences Council (NSC) Graduate Student Research Award Oral Competition held at the 2011 ASN Annual Scientific Sessions and Annual Meeting at Experimental Biology on April 9 in Washington, DC, for his research titled, "Assessment of iron deficiency in Kenyan children from capillary blood." Congratulations Fred!
2011 Carlos Slim Award in Health Awarded to INF Board Member
Dr. Reynaldo Martorell, INF Board Member and the Robert W. Woodruff Professor in International Nutrition at Emory University Rollins School of Public Health received the 2011 Carlos Slim Award in Health for his research. Read more here. Congratulations Dr. Martorell!
